Our business team having a meeting in the office

Initial Discovery Meeting

Whether your business has an existing website that needs a total refresh, or you’re just getting started, this phase is all about finding out who you are as a business. We take a strategic approach to understanding what your website’s purpose will be for your business. Is it strictly for search engine presence? Lead collection? Or are you wanting to give a louder voice to your existing brand? We like to hear from you on what your vision is, not just for your website, but for your business is as a whole online.

During this phase, we will specifically review:

  • Your existing branding materials (logo, brand guidelines, etc.)
  • Your existing website (if you have one)
  • A brief overview of your business history
  • Any marketing materials you have used in the past (business cards, mailers, letterheads, flyers, etc.)
  • Some example websites that you are inspired by

After our initial discovery meeting, our team will prepare an estimate for the project and layout a schedule for the project timeline with you.

Project Kickoff, Content, Media & SEO

Once we’re ready to get started, our project leads will host a short project kickoff meeting to make sure you’re on the same page and ready to get started. During this meeting, we will cover:

  • Appropriate domain access
  • How to upload media to our shared project folder
  • How to provide feedback and approve content
  • How to view ticket updates and reply

After our kickoff meeting, our team will dive right in! They will begin researching and compiling everything needed for our written content and SEO drafts. We use a variety of tools to understand high-ranking keywords for your industry, such as Moz and Google search console. We will also take in any pictures, video, graphics, etc. that you upload to our shared folder and begin tagging with metadata.

Website Design, Branding, & User Interface

In this stage, our graphic designers and user interface team will put together the initial draft of your website design. For our custom sites we design every aspect of the site, from the menu navigation to the footer, it is 100% human designed.

With the help of your existing brand, we are able to make the most of brand colors, fonts, and other graphics to create a fully designed site that oozes your brand’s voice.

This is the part of your project’s process where feedback is critical. Since our developers base the site on the approved design, it’s crucial that you give us feedback on our design drafts…and don’t worry, we’ve got thick skin; if there’s something not aligning with your original vision, we can jump back into another quick discovery call to make sure we’ve got a clear picture the rest of the way!

Website Development

Once we’ve got an approved website design, our development team gets right into the thick of it! Using our in-house developed template, we customize your entire framework on top of a rock-solid foundation, using an open-source content management system (CMS).

The development state is certainly what we would call the meat and potatoes of the project, as it can often be the longer part of the project. We typically estimate our custom website projects can take anywhere from 6-12 weeks, depending on the size of the project, and the development process usually takes on the most of that time. However, that does not mean you would not hear from our team from time to time to show off what we’ve been cooking up!

Once we’re nearing the end of development, our entire team begins to run performance tests, page crawls to check for SEO issues, and a thorough quality assurance check to make sure the final product meets the expectations of modern search engines, website visitors, and most importantly – you!

Going Live

After our final checks and tests, and with your approval, we will be counting down to liftoff! Our go live is a multi-step process that covers backing up your website, ensuring analytics capture is working, secure email delivery, and much more.

Once your website is live, our team continues to test for performance and quality across different browsers and device types to ensure everything is up and running smoothly.

Hosting & Maintenance

When you have your website developed by Technical Resource Solutions, you aren’t just walking out the door with a finished product, you’re setting up your website to live in a safe environment where it can safely be updated and maintained. We host our websites on a private, off-site server where only website we built can live. This ensures that you aren’t sharing hosting space with thousands of other random websites on a shared hosting solution

We also perform monthly maintenance on all of your website’s components, plugins, and framework. This is one of the most effective ways to prevent site failure or compromise by applying the safest and most up-to-date patches for these components. Please review our hosting and maintenance page to learn more about our private server, and how our maintenance plans work!
